The role of CMC and the co-operative sector in the IRP

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has designated Cooperatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) as a partner in the co-operative sector within the Ecosystem Mobilization Initiatives of the IRP ecosystem. As such, CMC acts as a Knowledge Mobilizer:

  • by encouraging co-operatives to participate in the IRP
  • by facilitating access to funding for co-operatives
  • ensuring that the needs of the co-operative sector and the strengths of its business model are considered by all IRP partners

CMC will also offer educational activities to promote a better understanding of the co-operative model for IRP and external partners, as well as concepts and terminology specific to social innovation and social finance to the co-operative sector.
